The first module we addressed after the alpha phase was the overall UI/UX. Our focus was to make targeted design improvements to enhance clarity and functionality without a complete overhaul.
Here’s a breakdown of the key adjustments we’ve made:
We introduced a darker theme and subtle tweaks to make the design more visually engaging. These improvements aim to enhance focus and readability without drastically changing the familiar interface, providing a refined experience that feels fresh yet consistent.
Based on feedback, we refined the card layout to improve readability, establishing a clearer hierarchy for key elements like card power, card type and text. This adjustment reduces visual clutter, helping players quickly identify important details and make faster decisions.
We revamped the bidding window to make the process easier to follow and execute. Players now have visibility as to whether their opponent has selected a card. We replaced the slider with buttons for players to select their bid and we rearranged the key datapoints to make them more available to reference. Additional metrics related to deck-building were added and timers were installed.
We made some updates to a selection of in-game icons to improve usability and clarity. The revised icons are now more intuitive, allowing players to interpret actions and elements at a glance, which helps streamline gameplay without major design changes.
To add more visibility around player progress, we integrated an ELO rating display within the interface. This small addition provides players with a clear view of their skill ranking, supporting competitive engagement.
To support readability and enhance clarity, we made adjustments to in-game copy, streamlining text for key actions and gameplay details. This helps players grasp essential information quickly, making the experience more intuitive and user-friendly.
